It all started when…

My old friend* Camille told me to start a food and wine blog so she would know how to cook my quick and simple recipes. Now, 4 years later, I’m finally getting around to it!

My name is Lisa Beaumont and I started cooking around 8 years old. I have always loved creating things and entertaining folks. I was born & raised in Southeast, Texas (Laissez les bons temps rouler!) - cajun country, but decided to expand my horizons after college living outside London, Los Angeles, Austin, New Orleans, before finally settling in Pemberton, British Columbia (forced to live in this paradise by my new husband, Chris and amazing/goofy step daughters, Charley & Molly).

I staged (apprenticed) a bit while living in Los Angeles but have mainly just been a passionate home cook. I worked in the music & events industry my entire adult life, but did enter the food and hospitality world while in Austin at Uchiko, where I became a sommelier.

Most days I have some form of animal feces on me (chicken, horse, duck, pig….cat), which is different to the human poo I’d find on my shoe in L.A. But essentially living amongst where my food was coming from, learning to grow it, just brought my love of cooking, experimenting, learning and nourishing people to another level.

And the name Salty Grl…well, I am known to be a bit inappropriate but only in good fun. If there is a gutter around, you will find my mind there, laughing like a 12 year old boy.

*(To note, Camille is not OLD, she’s damn hot and one of the most amazing people I know…but she’s been in my life for a LONG while).
